Kāhala – A reconstruction project to improve the primary baseball field at Kāhala Community Park is set to begin next week.
Starting Monday, October 17, 2016 the immediate area around the Kāhala Community Park baseball field, located at the corner of Pueo and Moa Streets, will be closed as the reconstruction project begins.
Other parts of the park not affected by the reconstruction will remain open during the project. However, the public is advised to be aware of the restricted construction area and to avoid it during the project.
The reconstruction includes: removing and replacing the backstops and dugouts, new fencing and sidewalks, landscaping, and planting new grass.
The project is expected to last six-months.
Permitted park users have been notified of the closure.
The $649,000 contract for the project was awarded to Site Engineering, Inc.
Kāhala Community Park rests on 8.81 acres of land and was acquired by the City in April 1962.
